Connecting Coloradans through nature and health.
Nature and Health - Colorado (NH-CO) is a statewide collaborative working to advance the connections between nature and human health. We bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, educators, land managers, policymakers, nonprofit organizations, outdoor recreation leaders, and community members who share a common goal:
improving the health and well-being of people and communities through meaningful engagement with nature.
A growing body of scientific evidence demonstrates that time spent in nature can improve physical health, mental well-being, cognitive functioning, and social connection. Yet too many individuals continue to face barriers to accessing natural spaces. NH-CO serves as a bridge between research and practice, translating scientific discoveries into real-world programs, partnerships, and policies that expand opportunities for everyone to experience the benefits of nature.
Through community events, educational programming, collaborative research, and cross-sector partnerships, we aim to foster a statewide network that connects Coloradans working at the intersection of nature and health.
We envision a future where every Coloradan has equitable access to nature and the opportunity to experience its benefits. Together we are building a healthier Colorado where community and nature come together to improve the well-being of the people and the places we call home.
